UFO Hunter Says Object Goes Dark And Avoids People - Nevada

Posters Comments
Close up video of a UFO I captured near my home in Las Vegas Nevada on October 17, 2014.
I knew it was only a matter of time before I was finally able to get much closer to this amazing UFO and all of its traveling companions. I do wish I could have gotten closer but living in a big city means I am going to have distractions in the form of cars, trucks and motorcycles.

I honestly don't know what this thing is but I have started to believe that it prefers to avoid people if possible. There were a number of times that it went lights out because of people being in the area. As soon as they left it lit right back up and continued on its way. What ended up stopping it completely was a car that went even closer than me with its headlights on. The people in the car did turn them off but not before the object went dark for the final time. I had parked my car behind a large metal utility box and tried to stay low key. If it knew I was there it didn't seem to care.

A Very Bizarre Alien And UFO Encounter In 1873 - Ohio

ZANESVILLE – Almost 200 years ago, Morgan County, Ohio farmer Thomas Inman was walking home from Philo when he had what one researcher believes could be one of the earliest accounts of a close encounter of the third kind.

“The blazing object flickered and flared for a few moments and then faded into darkness as a man dressed in a complete suit of black and carrying a lantern emerged from it. The man walked a few paces and stepped into a buggy ... There was no horse attached to this supernatural vehicle, but no sooner had the man taken his seat than it started to run, noiselessly but with great velocity, along the highway ... when buggy, man and lantern suddenly disappeared as mysteriously as they came.”

This incident, described in the writings of a Zanesville historian and journalist William Alexander Taylor in The New York Herald on April 5, 1873, sounds familiar but is unique for its time.

The early date at which it was told has drawn the attention of author Chris Aubeck, who traveled to Zanesville from his home in Spain this month to further research the incident as well as several others for an upcoming book. Aubeck previously collaborated with French astrophysicist and astronomer Jacques Vallee to write “Wonders in the Sky.”

“The topic of UFOs seems to be very modern because it involves extraterrestrials and high technology, but in fact, we’ve been talking about that for 200 years,” Aubeck said.

Although Aubeck said he doesn’t necessarily believe in the strange phenomena he studies, he does believe they play an important part in society.

“I think it’s something that’s a part of human culture and therefore should be studied as we study all kinds of literature and genres of all kinds,” he said.

Aubeck heard of the story from Kay Massingill, a Mississippi woman who found the story looking through old newspaper archives and contacted Aubeck through the Magonia Exchange, his online community. The two began investigating the article’s claims three years ago, and what they have found so far leads them to believe the article might not be just a tall tale.

Through genealogical records, it was determined Inman and his son did live during the time period. Taylor also was real and was related to Inman. Finding this connection to real records casts much of Aubeck’s thoughts that the article might be a hoax aside, as he finds that, in small historical communities, witnesses to fake phenomena often are invented.

“In a small community, you don’t really want to use anyone’s name because everyone knows each other,” he said. “No one would get away with it. ... So you would imagine that (residents) would immediately know that this wasn’t true. There’d be no point.”

The originality of the event’s description also is convincing to Aubeck. Elements such as a horseless buggy and other high-tech ideas such as a UFO would be unusual to find during that time period, Aubeck said, especially in such an isolated area.

“There were no cars. There was nothing people could have related this to,” Aubeck said. “It was isolated from any kind of science fiction. There was nothing at that time that was even similar to this, so that in and of itself is a strange thing. ... It suggests something truly did happen.”

Aubeck and Massingill spent their time in Zanesville interviewing locals, searching through records and trying to determine the probable site of the sighting.

“I have a reputation of being quite a skeptical researcher, or at least I try to get to the place where something happened or try to get to the source rather than just accept it as a strange story,” Aubeck said.

The story might not put Zanesville on the supernatural map, he said, but it should provide insight to a strange tale that’s survived two centuries.

“In a sense, it’s like trying to bring back to life or commemorate something that shouldn’t be completely forgotten.”

The Andreasson Affair A Bizarre Alien Abduction Story

“The Andreasson Affair” True Story of a Close Encounter

“The Andreasson Affair: The True Story of a Close Encounter of the Fourth Kind”

In the early 1990s, Dr. John Mack, a Harvard University psychiatrist, inquired into what, exactly, goes on with people who say they were kidnapped by aliens. Skeptical but curious, he interviewed scores of people over several years. In the end, he concluded that neither mental illness nor dishonesty was behind their claims. He said that, while he had never seen an alien himself, the most sensible answer was that only the people’s own stories adequately explained their recollections.

Dr. J. Allen Hynek
Another well-credentialed investigator of UFOs was Dr. J. Allen Hynek, an astrophysicist who wrote the introduction to Raymond Fowler’s “The Andreasson Affair,” first published in 1979 and now reissued. Hynek devised the well-known phrase “close encounter” to categorize reports of UFO sightings: CE-I, a UFO seen within 500 feet; CE-II, a UFO that left physical traces; CE-III, a UFO with “animated creatures.” Other investigators added another category, close encounters of the fourth kind, to cover reports of abduction experiences.

Fowler, of Kennebunk, has spent much of his life making detailed investigations into UFO and abduction reports. His book “The Allagash Abductions” is the main source of information for the well-known incident that took place on Eagle Lake in August 1976. It transcribes and discusses the content of hypnosis sessions the four participants underwent to retrieve memories of being taken into a craft they saw hovering above the lake one dark night, of being examined, and then returning to their campsite.

“The Andreasson Affair” takes the same approach. It’s made up mainly of passages from transcriptions of hypnosis sessions in which Betty Andreasson and her daughter, Becky, describe events that took place in (and beyond) their house in South Ashburnham, Mass., in late January 1967. The story is, not to put too fine a point on it, bizarre.

The family sees a bright light outside. The power goes out briefly. Then their waking memories get fuzzy. But nagged by strange imagery from the dreamlike incident, Betty 10 years later hears of Hynek’s research and writes to him. Hynek tells Fowler, and Betty is convinced to try hypnosis regression. Under hypnosis, she tells the story of a classic abduction incident – classic because, as Mack and others knew, the many reports have generally similar patterns and events.

Betty describes being led out of the house by entities about 4 feet tall with “gray skins and large, outsized pear-shaped heads [and] … large, wraparound catlike eyes.” They reassure her throughout the encounter, take her into a ship, through tunnels, into examining rooms and to places completely elsewhere, some of the details holding religious implications, then home. They tell her she has been chosen to reveal a message to humanity involving the overruling importance of love and spirituality.

The fascinating question for most readers, of course, is: This really happened?
Fowler doesn’t address the question directly. He sticks mainly to Betty’s narrative, whose events he seems to understand implicitly to be real. He offers comments and comparisons to other abduction accounts, and this 2014 edition adds some summary material to its predecessors, which include “The Andreasson Affair – Phase Two” (1983) and “The Andreasson Legacy” (1997).
How you receive all this depends on how you go into it. If you think close-encounter reports are hoaxes or mental illnesses, you won’t get much. If like John Mack you’re curious about what actually is happening, then there’s plenty of food for thought whether you believe in aliens or not.

You might even decide to treat this book like it’s fiction, and then, while it’s not exactly polished prose, its events pile on with disturbing effect.
And as they do, a nagging question courses underneath: If this was somehow real, what the hell is going on here?

Senator Richard Russell's UFO Sighting in Russia

Powerful US Senator Sees UFOs in Russia - 1955

Artist Impression of Senator Richard Russell
UFO sighting from a train in Russia

Georgia Senator Richard B. Russell was a major figure in the U.S. Senate. As head of the Senate Armed Services Committee, he exerted enormous influence over the American defense establishment.

When he spoke, the military listened. So when Russell reported what he had seen while traveling through the Soviet Union, no one laughed-and hardly anyone outside official circles knew of his remarkable experience until years later.

Just after 7 P.M. on October 4, 1955, while on a train in the Transcaucasia region, the senator happened to gaze out a window to the south. To his considerable astonishment his eyes focused on a large disc-shaped object slowly ascending as a flame shot from underneath it. The object then raced north across the tracks in front of the train. Russell scurried to alert his two companions, who looked out to see a second disc do what the first had just done. At that moment Soviet trainmen shut the curtains and ordered the American passengers not to look outside.

As soon as they arrived in Prague, Czechoslovakia, the three men went to the United States embassy and sat down with Lt. Col. Thomas S. Ryan, the air attaché. Russell's associate, Lt. Col. E. U. Hathaway, told Ryan that they were about to report something extremely important-"but something that we've been told by your people [the U.S. Air Force] doesn't exist."

Soon rumors about the senator's sighting reached America, but when a reporter for the Los Angeles Examiner tried to obtain details, Russell said only, "I have discussed this matter with the affected agencies and they are of the opinion that it is not wise to publicize this matter at this time." The report was not declassified until 1985. Interestingly, one of the "affected agencies" was not Project Blue Book, which never received the report. Apparently, the event was too sensitive for so lowly a project

Family Sees Blue UFO Hover Over Their Home - Virginia

Virginia Witness Takes Photos Of Silent Rod Like UFO Over Home

Images taken by Richmond UFO witness

A Virginia witness at Richmond reported watching and photographing a “small, glowing, rod-shaped UFO hovering silently in a neighbor’s tree,” according to testimony in Case 61042 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database. reports that:
The witness was outside walking when the object was first noticed about 11:33 p.m. on August 24, 2014.

“I was prompted to notice a small, glowing, weird rod-shaped object hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground in the flimsy, leafy, outer branches of a large tree behind a house in my tranquil, heavily-wooded suburban neighborhood of Stratford Hills in Richmond, Virginia,” the witness stated.

Suburban home where
UFO was seen hovering
The area is part of the witnesses’ regular walking route.

The witness described the object.

“The silent UFO first was rod-shaped with a glowing blue light on the left end and a pinkish-violet light on the right end. It was hovering horizontally in a place where a human could not be. It was not a new-fangled bug zapper and there are no cable-TV or electric lines running near the tree and definitely not at that height. No logic for the uncanny faintly-glowing lights in the tree.”

The witness used an iPhone 4S with no zoom to shoot video of the object and then switched to shooting still images in order to zoom in. Thirty images were shot over a 10-minute period.

Pope Francis Says Intelligent ET Life Is "Part Of God's Plan" - Video

In a statement before the Pontifical Academy of Sciences on October 27, Pope Francis I endorsed the view that extraterrestrial life – which he refers to as “beings of the universe” - has evolved in ways that is consistent with the plans of “God the creator.”

The Pope’s statement is a surprising endorsement of the view that the activities of intelligent extraterrestrial life in the universe can be part of a universal plan by “God the creator”. Pope Francis’s statement is preparing the Catholic world that extraterrestrial life visiting our world in UFOs may be part of “the plan of the creator.”

A West Virginia witness at Bridgeport reported observing a triangle-shaped UFO hovering over the local fire department sometime between 8 and 9 p.m. on October 27, 2014, according to testimony in Case 61018 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was driving through downtown Bridgeport when she first noticed “a UFO-like object hovering over the Bridgeport Fire Department or slightly behind it.”
The witness described the object.

The witness was driving through downtown Grafton, West Virginia, between 8 and 9 p.m. on October 27, 2014, when the hovering object was first seen.

“The object was gray in color, triangle-shaped and had three lights closest to each tip. The lights were white. It appeared to be larger than a golf ball but smaller than a basketball.”

The witness said that the object then flew away and headed toward the Grafton, WV, area.

“The radio in the car was on so were not able to hear any sounds.”

This sighting is just one more in a recent rash of sighting in West Virginia.

Driver Gets Close Look At An Amazing UFO, It Disappeared In A Bright Flash

"The Most Amazing Thing Was How the Sighting Ended"

At dusk on Tuesday evening, Oct. 7, Chad (he requested that only his first name be used) was northbound on Missouri 13 and had reached a point just north of Osceola when he became aware of two things simultaneously: There was a car pulled off on the shoulder with its flashers on, and a large dark bulk hanging motionless in the air that appeared to be almost directly above it less than 100 feet above the ground. As he drove up on the scene he became aware that he was looking at an aircraft of some kind.

Artist Likeness
“It wasn’t like anything I had ever seen before,” he told me during a telephone interview less than a week later. “It was sort of a flattened-out oval that was more rounded on top and flatter on the bottom. I would guess that it was about 100 feet long, maybe 35 to 40 feet wide, and 15 feet tall at its thickest point. It was parallel with the highway and maybe 50 feet or so off on the right side, which would be east.

It was dark gray in color and had no markings or windows that I could see. There was a man and a woman in the car staring up at it through the windshield, and they didn’t even glance over at me as I drove by. I was probably down to 10 or 15 miles per hour at that point.”

When I asked Chad why he didn’t stop to get a better look at the strange craft, he did not hesitate before saying, “I was afraid to. I have heard people talk about the fear of the unknown all of my life, and I can tell you now that it is definitely very real. I was curious, of course; that is why I slowed down so much. But I couldn’t convince myself to actually stop. It was just too out of the ordinary. There was also a very strong sense that there was somebody or something staring back at me, even though I didn’t see any sign of a window on the craft. I didn’t hear any sound either, but I had the windows all rolled up. Still, you would have thought that I would have heard something from a craft that big and that close. I even looked at my dashboard clock, thinking about any missing time, but it was just about the time it should have been.”

The strangest and most fascinating aspect of the encounter was how it ended.

“I had gotten far enough past the craft to see it in the mirror,” he explained. “Suddenly there was a bright flash of bluish-white light that lit up the whole area and it was gone. I didn’t see it go anywhere, it just wasn’t there anymore. I saw the couple getting out of their car right after the flash and thought about going back to talk to them, but to be honest I was shaken up enough by the whole thing that I just wanted to get as far away from there as I could as quickly as possible.”

Chad describes himself as being interested in UFOs but by no means obsessed with them. “If a UFO story comes on the news or gets printed in the paper I pay attention, but I don’t spend time looking them up on the internet and have never bought a book about them.”

There are many individuals out there claiming to be UFO investigators who do not live up to the title and what it implies, instead excitedly labeling every unexplained light in the night sky to be an alien spacecraft. In this case, a solid craft was observed at close range by three witnesses, although only one was available to be interviewed. Based upon his description, which in my opinion was as accurate as Chad could provide, the object was too large to have been a drone. The downdraft from any known means of holding an object stationary in the air would have been difficult if not impossible to ignore at such close quarters, but the reporting witness said in answer to a direct question that none was noticeable.

Even if we speculate about some new, highly advanced technology that would make such a feat possible, it is ridiculous to assume that such a revolutionary craft would be tested out in plain sight along a relatively busy public highway while witnesses gathered to watch it. The most unexplainable element of the report, however, has to be the craft’s sudden disappearance and the brilliant flash of bluish light. The object remains in the ever-growing ‘unidentified’ section of my computerized files.

Google Executive Breaks Highest Sky Dive Record by 1.5 Miles - Video

A Google Exec Just Skydived 136K Feet, 822 Mph, Smashing the World Record by More Than a Mile and a Half

Alan Eustace in free fall
ROSWELL, N.M. — A well-known computer scientist parachuted from a balloon near the top of the stratosphere on Friday, falling faster than the speed of sound and breaking the world altitude record set just two years ago.

The jump was made by Alan Eustace, 57, a senior vice president of Google. At dawn he was lifted from an abandoned runway at the airport here by a balloon filled with 35,000 cubic feet of helium.

For a little over two hours, the balloon ascended at speeds up to 1,600 feet per minute to an altitude of more than 25 miles. Mr. Eustace dangled underneath in a specially designed spacesuit with an elaborate life-support system. He returned to earth just 15 minutes after starting his fall.

“It was amazing,”Eustace said (photo left). “It was beautiful. You could see the darkness of space and you could see the layers of atmosphere, which I had never seen before.”

Mr. Eustace cut himself loose from the balloon with the aid of a small explosive device and plummeted toward the earth at speeds that peaked at 822 miles per hour, setting off a small sonic boom heard by people on the ground.

Below is a video, provided by Paragon, of the jump.

“It was a wild, wild ride,” he said. “I hugged on to the equipment module and tucked my legs and I held my heading.”

He did not feel or hear the boom as he passed the speed of sound, he said. He performed two slow backflips before a small parachute righted him.

His technical team had designed a carbon-fiber attachment that kept him from becoming entangled in the main parachute before it opened. About four-and-a-half minutes into his flight, he opened the main parachute and glided to a landing 70 miles from the launch site.

“To break an aviation record is incredibly significant,” said Mark Kelly, the former astronaut, who viewed Mr. Eustace’s ascent. “There is an incredible amount of risk. To do it safely is a testament to the people involved.”

Mr. Eustace’s maximum altitude was initially reported as 135,908 feet. Based on information from two data loggers, the final number being submitted to the World Air Sports Federation is 135,890 feet.

The previous altitude record was set by the Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner, who jumped from 128,100 feet on Oct. 14, 2012.

Mr. Eustace was carried aloft without the aid of the sophisticated capsule used by Mr. Baumgartner or millions of dollars in sponsorship money. Instead, Mr. Eustace planned his jump in secrecy, working for almost three years with a small group of technologists skilled in spacesuit design, life-support systems, and parachute and balloon technology.

Alan Eustace landing in Roswell NM

He carried modest GoPro cameras aloft, connected to his ground-control center by an off-the-shelf radio.

Although Mr. Baumgartner was widely known for death-defying feats, Mr. Eustace describes himself as an engineer first with a deep commitment to teamwork. He pilots his own Cessna twin-engine jet and has a reputation in Silicon Valley for thrill-seeking.

“Alan is a risk-taker with a passion for details,” said Brian Reid, a computer network specialist who has worked with Mr. Eustace.

After he decided to pursue the project in 2011, Mr. Eustace was introduced to Taber MacCallum, one of the founding members of the Biosphere 2 project, an artificial closed ecosystem built to explore concepts such as space colonization. Mr. Eustace had decided to pursue a simpler approach than Mr. Baumgartner’s.

He asked Mr. MacCallum’s company, Paragon Space Development Corporation, to create a life-support system to make it possible for him to breathe pure oxygen in a pressure suit during his ascent and fall.

Mr. Eustace said Google had been willing to help with the project, but he declined company support, worried that his jump would become a marketing event.

James Hayhurst, director of competition at the United States Parachute Association, who verified the record, described the venture as “legitimate science.”

“I think they’re putting a little lookout tower at the edge of space that the common man can share,” he said.

Mr. Eustace said he gained a love of space and spaceflight while growing up in Orlando, Fla., during the 1960s and 1970s. His family crowded into a station wagon to watch every launch from Cape Canaveral (known as Cape Kennedy during some of that time). A veteran aircraft pilot and parachutist, he worked as a computer hardware designer at Digital Equipment Corporation for 15 years before moving to Google in 2002.

Mr. Eustace said that his technical team designed and redesigned many of the components of his parachute and life-support system during the three-year development phase. Many of the redesigns were the result of technical surprises.

For example, he discovered that in order to control his suit, he was required to make movements that were exactly the opposite of the control motions made by a conventional parachutist. Left movements must be made for rightward motion, for instance, and upward movements for downward motion.

The stratosphere becomes warmer at higher elevations, and the suit designers had to figure out how to keep Mr. Eustace sufficiently cool at the top of the stratosphere, because there is no atmosphere to remove the heat. His suit did not have a cooling system, so it was necessary to make elaborate design modifications to keep dry air in his helmet so that his face plate did not fog.

In order to keep from overheating, Mr. Eustace kept his motions to a minimum during his ascent, including avoiding moving his arm to toggle a radio microphone. Instead, he responded to ground controllers watching him from a camera rigged above his suit by slightly moving one leg to acknowledge their communications.

Robert Hastings to Give Talk on UFOs Interacting With Nuclear Weapons & Facilities

Salisbury University talk to detail link between UFOs, nukes

For Robert Hastings, aliens and UFOs aren't just fodder — they're a 365-day-a-year passion.

The self-described "independent UFO researcher" has authored a book about sightings at nuclear weapons sites. He further supplements his living with speaking fees.

His latest talk takes him to Salisbury University on Friday. The lecture is sponsored by the Student Organization for Activity Planning.

The Daily Times spoke with Hastings recently about his life's work.

Are we alone?

I would say that the radar evidence alone demonstrates we have aircraft operating in our atmosphere that are far superior than anything than we have or the Russians or anyone else. So I would say that we aren't.

What evidence do you have?

The radar data is the best data we have because it's empirical, objective evidence.

I've interviewed over 150 persons since 1973 — either launch officers or missile maintenance personnel, people who work with nuclear missiles or police who guard nuclear missiles. What these 150 tell me is there have been numerous incursions at missile sites by saucer-shaped objects.

What were these saucers doing?

The radar data corroborates what they were doing. They were reversing course without doing a turn.

What do authorities say about these sightings?

The Air Forces' official explanation was that these were optical allusions created by thermal inversion. You have a hot and warm layer such that you can create optical illusions in the air. It's a mirage, in other words.

The weather conditions weren't in place to cause a thermal inversion, so it was clearly a cover up by the Air Force.

Why are aliens interested in nuclear weapons sites?

The answer to your question would be speculative on my part.

It's clear that whoever are flying these craft, wherever they're from, however they got here, one thing we can document they're up to is documenting ours and the Soviets' nuclear weapons programs.

I think whoever are flying these crafts for whatever reasons have humankind's best intentions at heart and believe that us and the Russians are playing with fire.

What do you say to skeptics of your work?

As far as public perceptions or the media or scientific community, I would say there's a distinct difference between having an opinion and an informed opinion. If you haven't studied the subject and haven't analyzed data, you have an uninformed opinion.

UFO Follows Witness in West Virginia - New UFO Hotspot Emerging in W. VA

Video Of Another UFO Emerges In Wake Of Recent West Virginia UFO Sightings
In the wake of dramatic UFO sightings in West Virginia that featured three “football field sized” triangle shaped UFOs, followed by a fourth, smaller, unidentified flying (and flashing) object witnessed by 10 astonished coal workers, new UFO footage from 2013 has emerged, also captured in the skies of West Virginia.
The new West Virginia UFO witness and videographer stepped forward Monday, October 21st, presenting video he’d captured in 2013 when he spotted a UFO that had been “following” him since he’d left the town of Marmet, in the same area as the three triangle-shaped football field sized UFOs witnessed by the 10 West Virginia coal workers.
The UFO sometimes appears to be a spinning orb, sometimes an eye looking back at the camera, but clearly not anything easily recognizable.
The new UFO witness’s case, numbered 60779 by the Mutual UFO Network, or MUFON, took place at approximately 7:15 p.m. on April 2, 2013, in Cross Lanes, which is about 24 miles northwest of Marmet. The witness uploaded his video footage of the UFO event with the MUFON report and the uploaded YouTube video of the UFO footage is posted below.

Since capturing the footage, the witness has suffered both physical and emotional trauma, also claiming that other evidence associated with his UFO sighting was taken off his computer. At the same time, the UFOs witnessed by his fellow West Virginians is what prompted him to release his footage now.
“I have seen this two times now in two years with video and pictures. My neighbor and son also saw this as I intended to use their telescope to get a closer look. I had nose bleeding for the next year (after videoing the UFO) and felt very uncomfortable in my home. Today it was posted as many have had disbelief. My son sent me pictures and news of a football field object seen in Mamet, West Virginia. I have seen this also in many areas of the globe — not just here — and most look the same.”
This new West Virginia UFO footage is almost 10 minutes long and captures the witness’s verbal disbelief, along with attempts to explain what he’s seeing throughout, including mentioning that the UFO had been “following” him before he got it on camera.

After 33 years the infamous Rendlesham Forest UFO incident, three metal detector enthusiasts hunting for Saxon gold in the same region, capture incredible footage of UFO's whilst filming their expedition.

As night falls and with their navigation equipment failing, they find themselves facing a terrifying encounter with an unforgiving alien presence.

The Website explains:
Since the night of 26th December 1980 Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk is synonymous with strange lights in the sky and unexplained alien activity.
Numerous USAF personnel claim to have seen extra terrestrial aircraft and mysterious lights at East Gate in the forest, close to the USAF bases Woodbridge and Bentwaters.
And tonight a film, based on the events of three days in December, premieres at the Colchester Film Festival. Written and directed by Daniel Simpson (Spiderhole, H) it tells the story of three UFO investigators plunging deep into Rendlesham Forest over three days.
Daniel spent nearly four years filming on handheld cameras and created the special effects himself. He says the experience of talking to eye witnesses from the events of 1980 has made him change his opinion.
"I've looked into it endlessly and I've looked into the faces and eyes of people telling the story and i just have to believe them, that's what you have to go on. I believe something happened that we will never know what it was, but I believe people do know"
The film, entitled 'Rendlesham UFO Incident', will be on general release in the UK in February 2015. It'll be released in America and Japan later in 2014 under the title 'Hangar 10'

UFO Discovered In 16th Century Painting - Craft Shown Emitting Smoke

Hovering 'UFO' found in Monastery Painting From The 16th Century

A strange disc pouring smoke and hovering over buildings has been found in a Romanian monastery wall painting thought to date from the 16th century.
A strange disc is seen hovering over a building in Romania
UFO researchers claim it is just one of many old paintings which seem to show evidence of visitors from another world.

The image is painted on the wall on a 14th century church in Sighisoara - thought to the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure on whom the Dracula legend is based.

The photograph was taken by a tourist, Catalina Borta, and sent to UFO experts at the Israeli Extraterrestrials and UFOs Research Organization (EURA).

The caption on the painting says, ‘Israel, put your hope in the Lord,’ and the image is thought to date from just after 1523, when the Bible was first translated into German.

UFO experts have drawn a comparison with other well-known paintings which seem to depict flying saucers, such as the 1710 painting Baptism of Christ by Aert de Gelder.

1710, by Aert de Gelder 'The Baptism of Christ'
Nigel Watson, author of the Haynes UFO Investigations Manual says, Flying saucers, UFOs and other weird objects in the sky have been depicted throughout the history of humanity.

What appear to be UFOs and aliens appear in the cave paintings of ancient man, the religious paintings of the Renaissance period and in the works of chroniclers and storytellers.

Some of the most striking UFO images appear in Renaissance art. As an example, a painting titled The Crucifixion depicts two spherical flying craft that plainly have a pilot inside them. It is of 1350 vintage and hangs over the altar in the Visoki Decani Monestry, Yugoslavia.

In the 15th Century, The Madonna with Saint Giovannio, the artist Domenico Ghirlandaio depicts a disc-like craft with rays shooting out of it over the left shoulder of Mary. A man with a dog behind Mary are shown looking at this aerial object.

The Baptism of Christ painted by Aert De Gelder in 1710 is a stunning vision of a circular craft beaming rays of light that illuminate Jesus and John the Baptist. It can be viewed at the Fitzwiliam Museum Cambridge.

An explanation for these Biblical paintings is that they are symbolic representations of angels and that the beams of light from them represent the Holy Spirit. These beams of light can also represent the miraculous impregnation of Mary that led to the birth of Jesus. Ironically, people today are literally seeing objects like this in the sky and associate their activities with the concept of ancient astronauts that it is speculated, we worshipped as Gods in the past.

Certainly, symbolism and artistic license is at work but whether they are based on ‘real’ sightings or belief in UFOs from other realms, or not, they still give us a sense of wonder and have a powerful impact on our psyche.

Footnote to this story
I understand the need to explain these 'UFOs' in ancient painting as a metaphor for some type of angel or shield to protect the subjects within the paintings. One person wrote to me an attempted to explain the object in the painting below as follows:
Notice the storms roiling on both sides of the building. The object is a metaphorical shield protecting the building and those in it. Smoke rising in this circumstance represents the prayers for protection rising to God. Those prayers, rising to heaven from the shield reach God and He continues to protect from the storms of life.
Sometimes it is just easier for everyone to accept an explanation that fits neatly and cleanly into our reality. We don't have to go out on a limb and accept something that many people are not ready or willing to accept. But sometimes we just need to confront the truth. Painters paint for a variety of reasons and they have been doing so since they first occupied caves. These earlier painters were not only creating art but they were recording history. Of particular importance were major occurrence and unbelievable events. This is exactly what this Romanian artist was doing, recording history.

In the 16th century a painter would have been much more likely to paint an angel in the sky offering some form of protection to the people below. It would seem bizarre to even think that an individual in the 16th century had the insight or forethought to know about metal disc's in the sky, let alone a metal disc emitting smoke. It is a huge stretch to believe that the disc in this painting is anything other than a UFO.

Officials Believe Aliens Responsible For Fires in Italy

Officials Say Aliens Caused Fires in Sicily

Aliens were responsible for a series of unexplained fires in fridges, TV’s and mobile phones in an Italian village, according to an Italian government report.

Canneto di Caronia, in northern Sicily, drew attention three years ago after residents reported everyday household objects bursting into flames.

TV news footage at the time showed electrical appliances as well as cookers, a pile of wedding presents and furniture smoldering.

Dozens of experts including scientists, electrical engineers and military boffins, arrived in the village 60 miles east of Palermo to investigate the phenomenon.

Arson was quickly ruled out and at one stage an amazed scientist was interviewed after he described how he saw an unplugged electrical cable burst into flames.

Locals were quick to blame supernatural forces and at the time the Vatican’s chief exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth backed up their fears and said: "I’ve seen things like this before. Demons occupy a house and appear in electrical goods. Let’s not forget that Satan and his followers have immense powers."

Now in an interim leaked report published by several Italian newspapers it has emerged that the Civil Protection Department has concluded the most likely cause was "aliens".

The report was ordered by the Italian government and brought together dozens of experts including a NASA scientist. Their two year investigation has cost an estimated £1 million.

According to the report the fires were "caused by a high power electro magnetic emissions which were not man made and reached a power of between 12 and 15 gigawatts."

The report also detailed a possible UFO landing close to the village, citing "burnt imprints which have not been explained were found in a field."

Francesco Mantegna Venerando, Sicily’s Civil Protection chief who coordinated the report, said: "This is not the final report. We are still working on our conclusions and this has been leaked.

"We are not saying that little green men from Mars started the fires but that unnatural forces capable of creating a large amount of electromagnetic energy were responsible.

"This is just one possibility we are also looking at another one which involves the testing of top secret weapons by an unknown power which are also capable of producing an enormous amount of energy."

Two Police Officers Give Chase To UFO Over New York In 1974

After two separate patrol cars saw “a bright light in the sky without the markings of a normal aircraft,” one car followed the light because one of the deputies in the car was “curious, more or less.”

"2 Livingston deputies give chase to a ‘UFO’."

“Two Livingston County sheriff’s deputies said they followed a ‘bright round object’ in the sky for about half an hour early today from Geneseo to near Warsaw before giving up the pursuit.”

The object described by Deputy Nicastro as a ball of light a little smaller than the full moon, increased speed as the the patrol car speed up and decreased speed when the officers slowed down.
deputy NiCastro said he and deputy McDonald spotted the object 50 - 100 feet overhead while patrolling the southern edge of Geneseo.

Deputy McDonald and myself got out to look at it. Deputy NiCastro related , "then we called another patrol car over to verify the fact that we weren't seeing things."

Three in the patrol car saw it. So did a Geneseo village policeman.

The deputies now reassured got permission from headquarters and took off on route 28-A after the object, which then appeared to be over he town of Leicester.

I was curious more or less Deputy NiCastro said " I had to satisfy my curiosity I wish I had binoculars."

The object remained in front of the deputies increasing and decreasing speed with the patrol car, for about 15 miles until they reached the Perry-Warsaw town line in Wyoming County.

"I wanted to see if it would land at Warsaw Airport Deputy Nicastro explained, it didn't and we were getting a ways out of our jurisdiction."

The Livingston County deputies summoned their Wyoming County counterparts to take up the pursuit. But the Warsaw based officers could not find it.

Deputy NiCastro this morning described the light as, "a bright object in the sky with markings of a standard aircraft."

Documents Obtained in 1979 Lawsuit Show CIA Involved In UFO Surveillance

New York Times 1-14-79 C.I.A. PAPERS DETAIL U.F.O. SURVEILLANCE -- Agencies Secret Studies Convince Arizona Research Group That Flying Saucers "Are Real"

PHOENIX, Jan. 13- Documents obtained in a lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency show that the agency is secretly involved in the surveillance of unidentified flying objects and has been since 1949, an Arizona based U.F.O. group.

The C.I.A. has repeatedly said that it investigated and closed it's books on U.F.O.'s during 1952, according to Ground Saucer Watch, a nation-wide research organization of about 500 scientists, engineers and others who seek to scientifically prove or disprove the existence of U.f.O.'s, but 100 pages of documents obtained under a freedom of information suit, show "the Government has been lying to us all these years," it said.

Embassies Gather Information

Mr. Spaulding an aerospace engineer with Airesearch, one of the largest producers of aerospace components, said the documents show the United States embassies are used to help gather information on U.F.O. sightings and that the information "seems to be directed to the C.I.A., the White House and the National Security Agency."

A C.I.A. memo of Aug. 1, 1952, recommends continued agency surveillance of "flying saucers," saying, "it is strongly urged, however, that no indication of C.I.A. interest or concern reach the press or public, in view of their probably alarmist tendencies to accept such interest as 'confirmatory' of the soundness of 'unpublished facts' in the hands of the U.S. government," the document said.

Among the documents are several detailed reports of Air Force attempts to either intercept or destroy U.F.O.'s. In a 1976 incident in Iran, one report says, two F-4 Phantom jet fighters pursued a large U.F.O. that seemed to send out smaller craft. One of their smaller craft "headed straight toward the F-4 at a very fast rate of speed,' the report said. "The pilot attempted to fire an Aim-9 missile at the object but at that instant his weapons control panel went off and he lost all communications." The pilot eluded the craft, then watched as it "returned to the primary object for a perfect rejoin," the report continued.

Concern About Russian Aims

A major point of concern, a C.I.A. document of Oct. 2, 1952, shows, is that U.F.O. sightings could mask Russian air attacks, or "psychological warfare." The report to the director of Central Intelligence from the assistant director for the Office of Scientific Intelligence recommends the the National Security Council be advised of the "implications of the flying saucer problem"; that the matter be discussed with the Psychological Strategy Board, and that the C.I.A. help "develop a policy of public information which will minimize concern and possible panic resulting from the numerous sightings of unidentified objects."

A document dated November 1975, directs against acknowledging any pattern in sightings. "Unless there is evidence which links sightings, or unless media queries link sightings, queries can best be handled individually at the source and as questions arise," it said. "Response should be direct, forthright and emphasize that the action taken was in response to an isolated or specific incident." Mr. Spaulding says the documents show that there are links and patterns in the sightings. From that evidence, he says, he believes U.F.O.'s are here on surveillance missions.

"We find a concentration of sightings around our military installations, research development areas," he said. " The U.F.O. phenomenon is following what our own astronauts are doing on other planets- we send a scoutship, we take soil samples and then we land."

Another Suit Pending

Mr. Spaulding said he has sworn statements from retired Air Force colonels that at least two U.F.O.'s have crashed landed and have been recovered by the Air Force.

One crash, he said, was in Mexico in 1948 and the other was near Kingman, Ariz., in 1953. He said the retired officers claimed they got a glimpse of dead aliens who were in both cases about four feet tall with silverish complexions and wearing silver outfits that "seemed fused to the body from the heat."

Mr. Spaulding said his group is waiting for a Federal Judge to rule on the last phase of its C.I.A. suit, which seeks access to 57 items that would provide "hard evidence" of U.F.O.'s or "retrievals of the third kind." That evidence includes motion pictures, gun camera film and residue from landings, he said.

Among the films they want is 40 to 48 frames taken in 1952 by Ralph Mayher, then a cameraman for KYW-TV in Cleveland and now a member of Ground Saucer Watch. The Air Force borrowed the film in 1957 and has never returned it. The official finding was that the object was a meteor, Mr. Spaulding said. "We're past the story-telling stage," Mr. Spaulding said. "We have to have it in black and white to satisfy the scientific community. We have to establish the existence of the object to all the people in Missouri and then figure out who's driving it."

How Aliens Look May Surprise You...Says Biologist Richard Dawkins

What will alien life look like? Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins told BBC Future why it may be a complete surprise.

Out there, far beyond the edges of our solar system, is there life?

In this video, presented at BBC Future’s World Changing Ideas Summit in New York, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins explores one of the great existential questions faced by humanity: what kind of life exists beyond Earth?

It’s safe to assume, says Dawkins, that if we ever have contact with extraterrestrial life from outside our solar system, it will be intelligent. That’s because of the huge distances between Earth and other planets. But beyond that, this may be the only thing we have in common with aliens. Life on our planet is carbon-based, but as Dawkins argues, it’s not totally out of the question to have life based on silicon – robotic, in other words.

Alien beings may be nothing like us – so if and when we meet, it’ll also transform our understanding of ourselves and the Universe we live in.
