Humanoids at a Hotel, MIB, Intriguing Stories from Recent MoD Files

Thirty-five years ago in Wales, a hotel owner saw a dome-shaped object land in a nearby field, where two "faceless humanoids" climbed out wearing shiny spacesuits and began taking measurements.

The Royal Air Force sent an officer to make discreet inquiries in the area, after which he typed up a 17-page report, stamped it "classified" and filed it away with all the other UFO cases.

Distracted by all the hoopla over the Olympics coming to London, people haven't been paying much attention to the other news out of Britain this month.

The Ministry of Defense released more than 6,700 pages of formerly top-secret files, detailing hundreds of UFO sightings.

Most of them, frankly, seem rather harmless, with blinking lights in the forest or yellow streaks across the night sky.

Men in black: But some cases are worth looking into - for entertainment value, if nothing else.

For example, page 471 of File No. DEFE24/2089/1.

After reporting a UFO encounter to local police, a man in Lincolnshire received a late-night visit from three tall men, dressed in identical black suits.

Witnesses reported that the men arrived in a dark Jaguar, broke through the back door and had a long, closed-door conversation with their friend, after which he didn't remember seeing the UFO anymore.

And he didn't remember the men in black, either.

The files generally make no judgment on the truthfulness or accuracy of the UFO sightings.

They simply tell the stories with bureaucratic efficiency - noting the time of day, weather conditions, direction of flight and so forth.

When the Ministry of Defense established the special UFO Desk in 1950, in the early days of the Cold War, officials never really expected to find extraterrestrials.

They were more concerned about Soviet bombers and spy planes, according to the files.

Investigators were supposed to find out if the sightings were "of any significance to air defense systems."

But they didn't always take the job seriously.

Secret is out: In 1982, case officers looked into reports of a UFO following the British fleet on its way to recapture the Falkland Islands from Argentina.

And they reported back to headquarters that the culprits were "presumably Little Green Men in ponchos."

In a memo dated 1995 and classified "UK eyes only," an intelligence official confirmed that he had "no hard evidence" of aliens coming to Earth.
At least, not to the British Commonwealth, which covers a pretty big chunk of the planet.

After 50 years of spending taxpayer money, the Defense Ministry determined in December 2000 that not one single alleged sighting had ever been remotely relevant to national defense.

But it took another nine years and a worldwide economic crisis before Her Majesty's government pulled funding for the UFO Desk and shut it down in 2009.

Now, if you ever run into faceless humanoids while vacationing in Wales, call the local constable. The RAF apparently has other priorities.

Ten UFOs / Orbs Light Up The Sky Over Iowa - UFO News Report

DES MOINES, Iowa - It was Saturday night at 10 p.m. when the residents of De Soto, a small town just west of Des Moines, saw something strange.

Neighbors stood in awe as about 20 unidentified objects flew over their heads. One spotter noticed that they were glowing orange, looking somewhat like lit up balloons.

The show lasted about 10 minutes. One man said that he was so scared that at one point, he almost called 911.

The National Guard also had no answers regarding the mysterious objects. While some think they witnessed extraterrestrial activity, others think it was just balloons lighting up the night sky.

The Crop Circle Challenge, Are You Ready to Claim £100.000 ($100.578) for 6 Hrs of Work

I was not aware of the Crop Circle Challenge until just the other day, all you have to do is replicate 'The Galaxy' crop circle in six hours and the money is yours. All kidding aside I would love to see someone take up this challenge, if it could be pulled  off we would have a definitive answer on whether or not Crop Circles are real. As I see it crop circles follow along the same lines as Ufology, there is a tremendous amount of misinformation, deception and false information laced in with a good deal of the truth. It makes it very hard to decipher fact from fiction. There is no doubt that some crop circles are man made and at the same time many crop circles defy logic, defy mathematics and even seem to defy the laws of nature and physics.

The crop circle challenge has another month to run (Through Friday Aug 31. 2012), to my knowledge there have been no entrants. If you are up for the challenge check out the links below for more information.

For one of the best sites on crop circles visit

Here is a summary of the challenge and for all the details click here.

We are offering £100.000 (one hundred thousand pounds) to anyone who can create the replica of a crop circle called “The Galaxy” that was reported on 12 of August 2001 at Milk Hill, Alton Barnes, in Wiltshire (see the photo beneath).

For the crop circle to be recognized as a “winner” and the prize money to be awarded, certain conditions will have to be met. The challenger must agree to these terms and conditions described below, print them out, sign them as the intention to comply, and email them back. This will serve as proof of their serious intent to take up the challenge as their signed email will be published and made public on http://www.cropcirclechallenge.co.uk/contest.html#Update1.

UFOs Have A Long History of Showing Up at Wartime, Top 12 Incidents, Photos

UFOs are mentioned throughout the Bible, found in Renaissance art, on ancient coins and in cave paintings. But from early to modern times, UFOs have been particularly conspicuous when the world is involved in armed conflict. The question is: why? Is someone out there looking in on us when we go to war?

Foo Fighters

Hundreds of UFOs, known as "foo fighters," were spotted by Allied bomber crews during World War II. The American military claimed they were Nazi super weapons, but once the war was over, this proved untrue. What were they... really?

UFOs Over D.C.

On two successive weekends in August 1952, UFOs appeared over Washington DC, buzzing nearby airports, the White House and the U.S. Capitol Building. They were seen by many on the ground, were picked up on radar and even photographed; yet the Pentagon later claimed they were nothing but "temperature inversions."

Ghost Fliers In The Sky

Though investigated many times over the years by some of the world's leading UFO researchers, no one has ever been able to solve the mystery of the Scandinavian Ghost Fliers. According to The Ghost Hunter blog, "these odd aircraft were seen hundreds of times over Finland, Sweden and Norway between 1932 and 1937. When seen in daylight the ghost fliers took the form of extremely large aircraft, bigger than anything then flying, coloured grey and without markings of any kind."

Haunted Aircraft Carrier

During its thirty years at sea, the USS Franklin Delano Roosevelt was haunted by numerous UFO sightings. Was this because it was the first American aircraft carrier to carry nuclear weapons? Or was it something else?

UFOs Over Korea

In 1949, the U.S. military claimed all flying saucer sightings were caused by "hoaxers, religious cranks or publicity hounds" and ended its investigation of UFOs. But just a year later, its pilots began encountering unearthly flying machines at the outbreak of the Korean War.

Top Secret RB-47

What was it about this top-secret electronic warfare plane that caused two UFOs to stalk it relentlessly over Louisiana and Texas one night in 1957?

The F-94 Incident

One night in 1952, a UFO was observed by a F-94 fighter like this one flying an intricate search pattern over Tokyo Bay. What was it looking for?

Ghost Rockets

Cruise missile technology wasn't perfected until the 1980s, and the first cruise missiles weren't used in combat until the 1990s. So why were cruise missiles like this one spotted over Sweden in 1946?

Battle of Los Angeles

More than a million people saw strange flying objects over Los Angeles on the night of February 24, 1942, including this famous photo that ran in the LA Times. Although the U.S. Army insisted the objects were Japanese bombers, after the war, the Japanese themselves proved this to be false. So, what could the object in photo be?

In the spring of 1909, hundreds of people saw strange unidentifiable aircraft flying over England. Dubbed Scareships, they were described as being huge cigar-shaped objects capable of moving at tremendous speeds. Though they resembled Zeppelins, the newly invented German war blimps would not be able to reach England for another five years. If the Scareships weren't Zeppelins, what were they?

Gulf War UFO Shootdown

Rumors persist that Saddam Hussein's scientists reverse-engineered a crashed UFO and created a massive super weapon as a result. Was this the WMD the U.S. was looking for when it invaded Iraq in 2003?

UFOs Over ICBM Bases

During the 1960s and 70s, hundreds of UFOs appeared over America's top-secret ICBM bases, sometimes shutting off their power, sometimes retargeting their warheads. So why did the U.S. military insist the UFOs were really "unidentified helicopters?"

Enhanced Video of UFO Over London Olympic

At first it would appear that this was most likely a blimp over the Olympic Games, that would be natural and make sense. After viewing the video it certainly does not appear to be a blimp and I really do not believe that a blimp would get so close, essentially making itself part of the show.

I have seen some comments that claim that a blimp is highly flammable and would never get that close. Well that is actually both true and false. The Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen which is highly flammable but modern blimps are filled with helium, which is an inert gas and not flammable at all. Helium is actually fire retardant. That said the construction material and the skin is flammable.

I would almost bet there was a blimp somewhere  the Olympic games but I honestly do not believe this video show one.

Air Force Claims to be Source of Cloud Rings Over Hawaii.......Maybe

The Air Force has provided an explanation for the mysterious cloud rings over Hawaii, many people don't think so!

July , 2012 – HONOLULU - Hawaii News Now’s Facebook page was flooded Thursday afternoon with photos of mysterious looking clouds. The ‘rings’ were spotted above Oahu, Maui and Lanai. They looked like the common contrail or vapor trail that forms behind aircraft; however these ‘trails’ were circular and do not match the normal Hawaii flight patterns. Some wondered if they were part of the RIMPAC exercises or even a UFO?

Here is the official statement from RIMPAC: “RIMPAC’s Air Forces had a NATO AWACS aircraft flying south of Oahu, in a circular pattern; at about 29,000 feet today during the time those contrails were visible. The AWACS was controlling RIMPAC assets exercising further away from the island.” –HNN

It should be noted that many people commented that given the temp and humidity conditions this explanation does not make a lot of sense. Also air over the ocean is usually in a constant state of movement and this "cloud formation" stayed in place for a very long time. Most importantly, no one seems to have seen the AWAC circling over the ocean. Your guess is as good as mine, maybe HAARP or some other unnatural phenomena.

Triangular Craft Hovers Over Bristol, UK

Me and my friends caught this amazing triangle shaped UFO craft hovering in the sky above our city Bristol in United Kingdom. It was a  Saturday morning around 1:30am.
It was silent, no sound at all, we all freaked out a little bit. The strangest part is, we couldn't see the sky thru this object, it was solid and very huge and it was hovering for a while, then it just vanished - just like that.

Firefighters Across the Country Train for Alien Attack - Video

FEMA Manual Prepares Fires Fighters for Alien Attack - Video

There is no doubt that the Government takes UFO sightings seriously, firehouses across the country are equipped with FEMA's "The Fire Officers Guide to Disaster Control' it contains a full chapter (of course it would be chapter 13) called Enemy Attack and UFO Potential. It describes in detail the role of the fire department in the event of UFOs arriving in their local communities.

The book tells firefighters that radio contact with dispatchers could be lost and engine trouble with their trucks could be expected, city lights and generators could malfunction. The fire departments are understandably reluctant to admit that they use the manual for training but virtually all fire stations in the country have the manual and it is our understanding that it is something they actually use in their ongoing training sessions.  The fire departments must assume the worst to prepare for specific disasters so the manual only deals with unfriendly aliens and makes no suggestion or comment that 'first contact' could be from friendly or benevolent beings. This ABC news report outlines the details.
Given the fact the UFO sightings around the world are on the increase, it seems FEMA and the fire departments are taking this threat very seriously. While many of these first responders make light of a UFO invasion or attack publicly we are told that behind the scenes it is a topic that gets serious discussion.

Woman Tells Family Story About Aliens That Died in a UFO Crash - 1941

I came across this video while doing some research, found it intriguing (although a bit bizarre) and thought you many find it interesting.

I always find a story like this somewhat amazing. What would someone like this gain from coming forward with their family story. There is no book, no fame and to my knowledge no money involved. There are only two things that could possibly come out of this family story, vindication that your family history and story was true and second, ridicule from the public.

I would not consider a five minute segment on a local news channel fifteen minutes of fame, if anything it might be a lifetime of shame. So why bother. It is a bit like many people that see a UFO, they feel an immediate need to convince others that the UFO phenomena is real. So, my guess is that this woman truly believes her family story and feels a need to share it with the public. Keep in mind the photo of 'aliens' shown in this video is a something the TV station put together for this segment. Apparently the real photo was borrowed and never returned.

Story - went out to film the moon. Noticed bright object over moon and thought it a little odd but wrote it off as a star. You know that voice that bugs you about something, saying "that's not right"? Well it was screaming at me so I pointed the camera up and there begins the video. The helicopter showed up literally as I was walking away from filming this. Why did it stand out? Because the same (or same type) of helo showed up within 2 hours of me posting the video about the I-495 "chase" a while back. Lends itself to plenty of eerie possibilities, but nothing conclusive of course!

Hudson Valley UFO Sightings, 1982 - Video

Hudson Valley Mass UFO Sighting  - UFO Looks Like a Floating City - 1982

Witnesses stated that that triangular craft was so large it
looked like a floating city
In the last twenty-five years or so, reports of UFO began to include not just sightings of disc or saucer-shaped objects, but also triangular-shaped unknowns. These so-called "silent running" craft are reported often today, and are still an enigma to UFO researchers. There is every indication that many of the craft seen during the Phoenix Lights of 1997, to read the full story (click herehere and here).  wave were also of the triangle variety, as well as rounded, boomerang shapes.

Group of Lights
The Hudson Valley account began just before the 1982 new year. On December 31, 1981, just before midnight, a retired policeman was enjoying being in his backyard in the city of Kent, N.Y. As he was looking at the stars, he noticed a group of lights to his south. He could clearly make out lights of red, green, and white. He thought he might possibly be watching an airplane with problems. He enjoyed seeing the jets come over at night, and knew their appearance well. As the lights moved even closer to him, he realized that what he was seeing was not an airplane.

Triangle Shape Seen
He was also sure that the lights or object was moving too slow for a plane, and as it approached even closer, he could see that it was flying extremely low-too low for an airplane, and it made absolutely no sound. But as it came even closer, he could make out a low, humming sound, and the shape of the object was now evident. It was a triangle, and the lights were connected to a structured object.

Years of Sightings
This report from Kent was just one of many reports of triangle UFOs made throughout the Hudson Valley. These sightings were reported heavily for several years, and an occasional report is still made today. There would be hundred of reports of the triangle, moving slowly, and almost silently over the valley. Finally, on March 26, 1983, a report on the valley sightings reached the press. The Westchester-Rockland Daily Item broke the story to the general public, and soon the news reached all of America.

Investigation Begins
The press releases caught the attention of a UFO investigative group associated with noted scientist Dr. J. Allen Hynek. Hynek, along with other UFO researchers, would embark on a full investigation into the valley sightings. A hot line was set up to receive sighting reports. Eventually, a book about the incidents, "Night Siege: The Hudson Valley UFO Sightings" would be published. Public awareness of the triangle enigma would also help popularize the Belgium Wave of 1989.

Floating City
The hot-line really was hot. On the very first night it was activated, March 24, 1983, no less than 300 reports were phoned in. All of the reports were of a similar nature-low flying, slow moving triangular UFOs. Some callers even claimed to have had a close enough sighting to call the object a "floating city," indicating its immense size, and its slow, steady movement

Police Switchboard Swamped
It seemed that the triangles were flying all over the valley this night. In the city of Yorktown, the police switchboard was so busy with callers reporting UFOs, that the department felt that they might not be able to answer "normal" police calls. One incident of particular interest occurred over the Taconic parkway. Traffic was congested as motorists pulled off the highway to watch an enormous, flying triangle slowly move across the sky. During a four year span, from 1982-1986, over 5,000 reports were logged.

Classic Triangle Event
As to be expected, numerous theories were presented to explain what all the fuss over the valley was about. Of these, only one flying craft would come close-a blimp. But the light configuration, and the often quick maneuvers associated with the triangle reports easily ruled out the blimp as a source of the sightings. The Hudson Valley sightings have become a classic case of triangle sightings.

The Canadian UFO Survey

The 2011 Canadian UFO Survey

Compiled by Geoff Dittman and Chris A. Rutkowski

You can read reactions and comments to this survey by following this link.

The points made in this years survey included:
  • Contrary to what some people might think, UFOs don’t seem to have gone away.
  • There were 986 UFO sightings reported in Canada in 2011, approaching three each day.  This is near the record for numbers of reports in one year, when 1,004 reports were received in 2008.
  • Ontario had an all-time record high number of UFOs reported in 2011. In fact, the percentage of reports in Ontario compared with the rest of Canada has been increasing steadily during the past ten years.
  • In 2011, about 11 per cent of all UFO reports were judged unexplained. This percentage of “unknowns” falls to less than one per cent when only higher-quality cases are considered.
  • Approximately one in ten Canadians believe they’ve seen UFOs
  • There is an average of two witnesses per UFO sighting.
  • The typical UFO sighting lasted approximately 11 minutes in 2011.
  • The study found that more than half of all UFO sightings were of simple lights in the sky. Witnesses also reported point sources of light, spheres and boomerangs.
Numbers of reported UFO sightings remain high. Several theories for this can be suggested: more UFOs are present and physically observable by witnesses; more secret or classified military exercises and overflights are occurring over populated areas; more people are unaware of the nature of conventional or natural objects in the sky; more people are taking the time to observe their surroundings; more people are able to report their sightings with easier access to the Internet and portable technology; or even that the downturn in the economy is leading to an increased desire by some people to look skyward for assistance.

Although the largest percentage of reported UFOs is simply lights in the night sky, a small number are objects with definite shapes observed within the witnesses’ frame of reference.

It is also emphasized that, popular opinion to the contrary, there is no incontrovertible evidence that some UFO cases involve extraterrestrial contact. The continued reporting of UFOs by the public and the yearly increase in numbers of UFO reports suggests a need for further examination of the phenomenon by social, medical and/or physical scientists.

Enormous Structures Filmed on the Moon, Video

Structure on the Moon of Phenomenal Size

The first five minutes of this film is Bill Bryson, an amateur astronomer, providing evidence that the moon is not grey and is much more complex than we have been led to believe or were taught. The actual film starts around the five minute 20 second mark.

The film that challenges anyone to prove that the Moon is grey. This film proves the Moon is a full color celestial body and that there are incredible structures and towers built by "someone" that has the ability to build a structure ten miles wide and six miles high within an eight month period. The evidence is presented and you will be amazed at what you will see in this film

Levelland Texas UFO Sighting, Vehicle Interference, Multiple Witnesses, 1957

Mass Sightings and Vehicle Interference, Levelland, Texas - 1957

This case is perhaps the most important mass UFO sighting and vehicle interference events in the United States. On the evening of November 2, 1957, Patrolman A. J. Fowler, officer on duty at Levelland, Texas, received the first of several strangely similar phone calls. The first was from Pedro Saucedo, who, with companion Joe Salaz, had been driving four miles west of Levelland when a torpedo-shaped, brilliantly illuminated object rapidly approached the car... as the object passed close over the car, the truck headlights went out, and the engine died. Officer Fowler reported that a total of 15 phone calls were made to the police station in direct reference to the UFO.

Dr. J. Allen Hynek, "The UFO Experience" (1972)

November 2, 1957

On the evening of November 2, 1957, at about 11:00 P. M., just one hour after the Russians had launched their second, dog-carrying artificial satellite (that certainly was coincidence) but before we Americans knew about it, Patrolman A. J. Fowler, officer on duty at Levelland, Texas (population 10,000), received the first of several strangely similar phone calls

The first was from Pedro Saucedo, who, with companion Joe Salaz, had been driving four miles west of Levelland when a torpedo-shaped, brilliantly illuminated object (as Saucedo described it) rapidly approached the car. Fowler listened to a terrified Saucedo relate the incredible story of how, as the object passed close over the car, the truck headlights went out, and the engine died. A certified copy of a statement made by Saucedo reads:
To whom it may concern: on the date of November 2, 1957, I was traveling north and west on route 116, driving my truck. At about four miles out of Levelland, I saw a big flame, to my right front. . . . I thought it was lightning. But when this object had reach to my position it was different, because it put my truck motor out and lights. Then I stop, got out, and took a look, but it was so rapid and quite some heat that I had to hit the ground. It also had colors - yellow, white - and it looked like a torpedo, about 200 feet long, moving at about 600 to 800 miles an hour.
As the UFO moved into the distance, the truck lights reportedly came on by themselves, and Saucedo found that his truck started easily. The two men drove on to Whiteface, ten miles west of Levelland, and it was from a phone booth there that the call was made to Officer Fowler. Fowler apparently figured the man must have had one too many drinks, and he dismissed the report from his mind.
Considered by itself, the testimony of an uneducated, frightened truck driver, as sincere in his reporting as he might have been, has little credibility. But one hour later Fowler got another call, this time from Mr. W. of Whitharral. Fowler was told that he (Mr. W.) was driving four miles east of Levelland (the direction in which the Saucedo object had disappeared) when he came upon a brilliantly lit egg-shaped object, about 200 feet long, sitting in the middle of the road. As Mr. W. approached it, his car engine failed, and the headlights went out.

Original Radio Broadcast of 1957

According to the observer, the object was lit up like a large neon light and cast a bright glare over the entire area. The observer decided to get out of his car, but when he did so, the UFO rose and, at an altitude of about 200 feet, the object's light or glare blinked out entirely. Mr. W. then had no trouble starting his car.

A short time later Officer Fowler got another call, from another Whitharral man, who was, at the time of the incident, some 11 miles north of Levelland. He reported to the police station that he had come across a glowing object sitting on the road and that as he approached it - the reader can finish the sentence -his car engine stopped, and his headlights went out. But when the object left shortly thereafter, all was again well.

But that was not the end. According to a signed statement in Project Blue Book files, at 12:05 A.M. that Saturday night in November, a 19-year-old freshman from Texas Tech, driving roughly 9 miles east of Levelland, found that his car engine began to sputter, the ammeter on the dash jumped to discharge then back to normal, and the motor "started cutting out like it was out of gas." The car rolled to a stop; then the headlights dimmed and several seconds later went out.

Baffled at the turn of events, he got out of his car and looked under the hood but found nothing wrong. Closing the hood, he turned away and then noticed for the first time, he reported, an oval-shaped object, flat on the bottom, sitting on the road ahead. He estimated it to be about 125 feet long, glowing with a bluish-green light. He stated that the object seemed to be made of an aluminum-like material, but no markings or other details were apparent. Frightened, he got back into the car and tried frantically but in vain to restart the car.

Resigned, he sat and watched the object sitting in front of him on the road (he did not state how close he thought he was to the object) for several minutes, hoping that another car would drive by. None did. The UFO finally rose into the air, "almost straight up," and disappeared "in a split instant." Afterward, the car was again fully operable.
"I then proceeded home very slowly," his statement continues, "and told no one of my sighting until my parents returned home from a weekend trip .. . for fear of public ridicule. They did convince me that I should report this, and I did so to the sheriff around 1:30 P.M. Sunday, November 3."
At 12:15 A.M. Officer Fowler got still another call, this from a man phoning from a booth near Whitharral. This observer reported his encounter with the strange object at a point some nine miles north of Levelland. Once again the glowing object was sitting on a dirt road, and as his car approached it, its lights went out and its motor stopped. Soon the object rose vertically, very swiftly, and when it reached an altitude of about 300 feet, its lights went off and it disappeared from sight. As the reader expects by now, at this point the car lights came back on and the car was started with no difficulty.

Houston's Morning News with Matt Patrick talks with Stanton Friedman about
the Levelland, Texas UFO sighting in 1957.

By this time Officer Fowler had finally realized that something odd was going on, and he notified the sheriff and his colleagues on duty, some of whom took to the roads to investigate. Two of them reported bright lights, seen for just a few seconds, but they did not have any car-stopping encounters.

At 12:45 A.M. another single witness - I have broken my rule to use only multiple-witness cases because of the independent witnessing of essentially the same event or object, with the same physical effects, from independent nearby points - driving just west of Levelland and thus close to the spot where two hours earlier Saucedo had had his sighting, spotted what looked like a big orange ball of fire at a distance of more than a mile. The ball then came closer and landed softly on the highway about a quarter of a mile ahead of the observer. It covered the paved portion of the highway.

The witness reported that the motor of the truck he was driving "conked out" and his headlights died. Meanwhile, the object sat there on the road ahead of him, glowing bright enough to light up the cab of his truck. In about a minute, the observer reported, it made a vertical ascent - and, of course, things returned to normal. This encounter was not phoned in at the time to Officer Fowler but was reported the following day. One possibly significant clue to some as yet unknown process may lie in the fact that the reporter stated that when the UFO landed it changed from its original red-orange color to a bluish green but that when it rose it changed back to red-orange. And it is perhaps of interest to note at the object or objects always landed on the pavement, except once, when it settled on a dirt road.

But that is not all. At 1:15 A. M. Officer Fowler got another call, this time from a terrified truck driver from Waco, Texas, who was at the time just northeast of Levelland, on the "Oklahoma flat road." The man told Fowler that his engine and headlights suddenly failed as he approached within 200 feet of a brilliant, glowing egg-shaped object. He said that it glowed intermittently 'like a neon sign" and that he estimated it to be about 200 feet long. He reported that as he got out of the truck, the UFO quickly shot straight up with a roar and streaked away.

Officer Fowler stated that the truck driver was extremely excited when he called and that the witness was most upset by his close encounter. The truck engine and lights worked perfectly when the object left.

By this time patrol cars were out looking for the reported object. Sheriff Clem and Deputy Pat McCulloch were being kept up to date by Fowler as they drove around the area. At 1:30 A.M, while driving along the Oklahoma Flat Road, between four and five miles from Levelland, the two men spotted an oval-shaped light, "looking like a brilliant red sunset across the highway," a good 300 or 400 yards south of their patrol car. "It lit up the whole pavement in front of us for about two seconds," said Clem.

Patrolmen Lee Hargrove and Floyd Gavin were following in their patrol car several miles behind. In his signed statement Hargrove stated:

Was driving south on the unmarked roadway known as the Oklahoma Flat Highway and was attempting to search for an unidentified object reported to the Levelland. Police Department.
. . . I saw a strange-looking flash, which looked to be down the roadway approximately a mile to a mile and a half. . . . The flash went from east to west and appeared to be close to the ground.
Constable Lloyd Ballen of Anton, Texas, also reported seeing the object, although his statement was: "It was traveling so fast that it appeared only as a flash of light moving from east to west."

None of these patrolmen's cars was affected, but Levelland Fire Marshal Ray Jones, who also was looking for the UFO, stated that his car's headlights dimmed and his engine sputtered but did not die, just as he spotted a "streak of light" north of the Oklahoma Flat.

Officer Fowler reported that a total of 15 phone calls were made to the police station in direct reference to the UFO, and he added, "Everybody who called was very excited."

In terms of probabilities, that all seven cases of separate car disablement and subsequent rapid, automatic recovery after the passage of the strange illuminated craft, occurring within about two hours, could be attributed to coincidence is out of the statistical universe - if the reports are truly independent (and they are, according to the tests we've used throughout).

Suppose we try to attribute the happening to mass hysteria, although that does not disclose a mechanism for killing engines and extinguishing lights and stopping radios. The observers were independent unless all of them, for example, were listening to a local radio station that carried the news. (No investigator ever checked into the important question of whether the radio stations were notified and if they broadcast the reports.) We know that at first Officer Fowler discounted the reports, and it is unlikely that he would have almost immediately notified the local station. But let us suppose that he or someone else did and that all car radios were tuned in to that particular station. We still would need an explanation for the physical effects reported unless we attribute them to downright prevarication rather than to hysteria.

What was needed at the time was swift reaction by Blue Book and a serious, thorough investigation. Captain Gregory, then head of Blue Book, did call me by phone, but at that time, as the person directly responsible for the tracking of the new Russian satellite, I was on a virtual around-the-clock duty and was unable to give it any attention whatever. I am not proud today that I hastily concurred in Captain Gregory's evaluation as "ball lightning" on the basis of information that an electrical storm had been in progress in the Levelland area at the time. That was shown not to be the case. Observers reported overcast and mist but no lightning. Besides, had I given it any thought whatever, I would soon have recognized the absence of any evidence that ball lightning can stop cars and put out headlights.

I was told that the Blue Book investigation consisted of the appearance of one man in civilian clothes at the sheriff's office at about 11:45 A.M. On November 5; he made two auto excursions during the day and then told Sheriff Clem that he was finished.

A newspaper reporter subsequently said that he had recognized the investigator and identified him as an Air Force sergeant.

In any event, Blue Book came under severe pressure. In a memo dated December 4, 1957, Captain Gregory complained that.... . as a result of pressure from both the press and public

· . . Assistant Secretary of Defense requested that ATIC immediately submit a preliminary analysis to the press . . . a most difficult requirement in view of the limited data."

Interfering with cars on the highways is but one of the physical effects reported in this category of Close Encounters. There are also the reported - and photographed effects on living things, notably plants and trees. Many witnesses have reported temporary paralysis in their limbs when their encounters have been quite close.

More than 300 cases of "scorched, denuded circles" and related "landing marks" frequently associated with the sighting of UFOs at close range have been cataloged. These, like UFOs in general, have been reported from many parts of the world, and a definite pattern is evident. The prototype is clear from an examination of even a few cases.

Asteroid to Zoom Past Earth on Sunday, Live Webcast

City Block Size Asteroid 2002 AM31 to Fly By Earth This Weekend

A city-block size asteroid will fly by Earth this weekend, well beyond the orbit of the moon, and you can watch it zip safely by live in an online webcast.

The asteroid 2002 AM31 will make its closest approach to Earth on Sunday, when it will pass by at a range of about 3.2 million miles (5.2 million kilometers). That's about 13.7 times the distance between Earth and the moon.

On Sunday, the Slooh Space Camera skywatching website will host two live webcasts to offer Internet denizens views of the space rock from telescopes at the Prescott Observatory in Arizona and the Canary Islands, off the west coast of Africa.

Asteroid 2002 AM31 has no chance of hitting Earth this weekend, scientists say, though it is on the watch list as an object that may one day pose a future concern. The space rock is listed as a "potentially hazardous asteroid" by the Minor Planet Center in Cambridge, Mass.

Asteroid 2002 AM31 was discovered in 2002. It's being tracked by radar by astronomers at NASA's deep-space radio antenna in Goldstone, Calif., and at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico for its weekend flyby.

A July 12 look at the asteroid by the Arecibo radar suggests the asteroid is about 1,115 feet wide (340 meters), according to a Goldstone radar observation planning update. But a notice from NASA's Asteroid Watch program at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., estimates that the asteroid is more than twice that size, with a diameter of about 2,600 feet (792 meters).

Sunday's webcasts are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. ET. They can be accessed at the Slooh website: http://www.slooh.com

"Near-Earth asteroid 153958 (2002 AM31) represents one of approximately 9,000 whizzing past Earth at any given moment and we wanted to highlight this one as it's only 13.7 lunar distances from Earth and well over one city block big — similar to near-Earth asteroid LZ1 which zoomed past us unexpectedly mid-June," Slooh Space Camera president Patrick Paolucci told Space.com.

Paolucci, Slooh's Paul Cox and Astronomy Magazine's Bob Berman will provide commentary during the asteroid flyby webcast, with astronomer Matt Francis of the Prescott Observatory joining for the second session.

Strange UFO Sighting - Objects Speed into Sky From Surface of the Earth

This is a very bizarre video, I have no idea what to make of it but it is interesting and it is getting a ton of play on the internet.

I fell off my chair when I saw this! - Camera is a low light security camera (not night vision) with a 6mm lens. Objects are clearly behind the tree top at the bottom of the screen. Recorded over Melbourne Australia 16.7.2012 approx 6.45pm.
Folks, keep in mind this is near a 'fisheye lens'...these objects are very large, yet very distant
